...that I have decided to give my old Canon to Wifey as she would like a decent camera, while I start to use the new one.:):):)
Found a standard lens on line for £46 inc p&p from NOT the bay or grumptree, but a pukka camera exchange place.
But can I get an SD card for it?
Can I hekaslike!:mad::mad::mad:
So looks like she may need to use the not so big (!) one I keep for desperate circs until someone starts shipping these things in again.:(
Anyone know why we can't get one? SD 8Gb like a Sandisk for instance?
Tis annoying!:(
Probably because I've got 'em all stocked up 'ere and don't use 'em. :D:D:D Just one problem, I can't find the wallet that they're in.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

'ere we are two 4's and an 8.
There could be something on 'em so they would need formatting but they will not have done much as i will have swopped them out as soon as I got higher capacity ones.
Any use?

Forgot the piccy - coming soon ...................

SD and not Micro-SD?
LINK
How big a card (GB) can the Camera handle? Because you can put a 32/64GB Micro-SD card in an SD adapter.
It's not the same shape, it's squarer on the end i.e. no diagonal bit cut off.
The camera can take a bigger i.e. bigger memory, one but 8 Gig is the max it can format, so a bigger one would be literally a waste of space, it would work but only up to 8 Gb. It has slots on both sides and two rows of parallel holes on the bottom, 50 holes in all.
Full thing is "SanDisk Ultra //Compact Flash 15MB/s " which of course means nothing to me.
I do have micros sd cards and an adaptor, but that is for other stuff, can't remember what now, but that is about 3/5ths the size and the adaptor has the corner cut off and 8/9 brass looking contacts.
So completely different animals.

hope that shopws up as last time i tried to put up a link it didn't work.
There are lots of options for you. There is an adapter than takes standard micro SD cards and it provides the CF style interface pin layout.
8GB micro SD cards are pretty cheap.
THIS adapter.
These 8GB micro SD cards.
Are examples. Good luck.

Wow, they ARE cheaper, and you'd only need one adaptor.
Not being in the game, as it were, never knew you could get this sort of stuff!
More used to adaptor rings to put this lens on that body!

Mate, ever so grateful, will show to Wifey and take it from there.
Thanks again Dan for removing my blindfold!:):):):):)

I would check the actual read/write-rate that the camera needs. Not all memory devices are as fast.
So an adapter needs to support the read/write rate the camera is looking for, and the cards that go in the adapter need to be up to snuff too!
But, these adapters exist for a very good reason. ;) It means people don't have to pay stupid pricing for an off-beat proprietary memory card format that is stupidly priced.

I did have a quick squint at the specs for the smaller SD cards and their "speed" if that is what the MB/s rate means was better even than the one in my camera, which is absolutely fine, but I'll look in the handbook and perhaps do some checking ont internet before taking the plunge. The cards did say they were for video and that needs a ton more speed than still photography I'd think!
But I get what you said about the reason for the adaptors!!:D:D:D

... that I m rather P'd off.
Called up there because she couldn't turn her shower off and her "hot-water" was running away ( wow a real emergency)!!!
Noithing wrong, she just was turning the on/off the wrong way or couldn't turn it. But she had managed to disconnect the shower hose and lose the washer.
Fixed that, then the wife says "can you look at mum's blocked sink?".
Totally blocked with hard fat, limescale and assorted filth.
Where's HER son? Oh, that's right, at home feeling unable to help poor little chap.
Existing plumbing was a total bodge job with poor flow and too many part/bends, joints.
Cleaned it all out but it was leaking badly when re-assembled (rubbers perished etc.).
New McAlpine 1 & 1/2 sink waste purchased & fitted.
Offers of payment (even if only for the parts) no, a thank you? No.
Silly witless, clueless, thankless old bat.:mad::mad::mad:

Your too nice id tell her get her useless coconut of a son to remove the dinosaur pubic hair
& snott ott the pipes.

Evening all busy wee day up da scaffold opened up the wall heads on both gable ends
& opened up 3 wasp nests, nasty little jaspers sprayed them wiv pva out a weed sprayer :D:D
Bought a winch out of scroofix for 150 bucks & made a lifting basket out an asda delivery
box can get 50 slates in one basket :):) 960 up on day one :):)

Hi DD, they are all of a different type to the ones that go directly in the camera, but as Dan has recently explained they could go in an adapter, I think!
I need to do a bit more digging as he says to discover exactly what read/write speed the camera needs before going any further with this but I will bear your very kind offer in mind and pm you once I know where I'm at, if that's OK. If you REALLY have no further use for them. Recycling is better than buying new, I always feel. Hence the purchase of a camera body and a lens both secondhand!
Thanks once again for going to this trouble.:):):):)
