In my last job I spoke regularly to some blokes in Cardiff. One day they asked to send some gear to "xxxxx" (I can't remember), an I said ok, sending to "xxxxx", an he said no, it's" xxxxx", an I said, sorry, that's "xxxxx"? An he started gettin lumpy!
FFS says he, it's "xxxxx"! So I says "xxxxx" as best I could.... I thought he was bein a bit of a knob tbh.
See if he could pronounce Boarhunt like an Ampshire boy, I dunt fink so..

Another "not-raining-yet" day.
It seems that I am not finished doing "good-deeds" this weekend.
Wife reports that her mother's washing line pole has rotted away and snapped off at the base and "MUST" be fixed.
The wife's brother it seems cannot possibly do this task for HIS mother, so someone else must step-in.
He is currently hiding safe & warm at his home behind a "Covid Lockdown" excuse the little git.

You'll find the afternoons being empty will be useful as you will be able to do all your projects while the shops are open, well some of em, and it'll be light.I'm lucky enough to live in a quiet village and my neighbours are quiet people so I'm hoping it'll be OK.
I'll let them know that I'll be working nights soon though just so they know I'm trying to sleep during the day.
The alarm has been turned off
Mate of mine hated it when he had to come off nights and found the opposite reely annoying!!

Based on the hours I'll need to work, I'll be asleep in the afternoons.
Getting home at 7am and going to bed around midday in order to get a good "nights" sleep, I'll only have the mornings to shop but I understand what you're saying.

Oops!Welsh!
I have just heard a very interesting fact on the TV which I knew you would all be taken aback by.
'Kellogg' is the Welsh word for cockerel hence the name and the cockerel on the Kellogg packets!
Sorry to astound you with facts on this Sunday evening.
According to this, it was simply named after the founder of the company, which is what I always thought.

When I did 6 nights a week in a hospital, night porter, i went home and straight to bed. Was up by about 1 o'clock. (got home at 6:30).Based on the hours I'll need to work, I'll be asleep in the afternoons.

Don't you ever take a day orf?
Mind you I "worked" today an orl. don't usually on a Sunday!
Got to the bottom of my blinking light int kitchen. the stoopid fitting won't take the recommended bulbs, too wide for it though they looks like they ought to fit. they screw in but not quite deep enough to make contact.
If I take days off nowt gets done lol We took the roofing job on just to do at weekends as it was a leaking
badly, leaking onto there bed ffs we couldnt leave them living in a damp house but we are so busy during the week it could only be done at weekends.
The last builders ripped them off an done a cr@p job only looking for quick cash
They are an elderly couple an we had to get the house water tight before winter kicked in.
All the roofing is done just the new facia boards & we will fit deep flow guttering as the standard
guttering was choked solid.
The back porch & decking is rotten too, if id have stood on it id have went straight though.
No doubt we will have to sort that in the spring. Still its all water tight now.

My idea is to just rotate my "working" day so that I do exactly the same things but just at the adjusted times of the day
We'll see if it works after a few days of trying it.

You'll always get some of them
but, generally speaking, the Welsh first-language speaking people are very helpful and tolerant to the people who do try to learn the language. What seems to really get them is people just 'Anglisising' the place names and making no effort to ask how to do it properly/vaguely.

Yes, Kellogg was their name but the sound of the Welsh was the same hence the cockerel on the packet. C in Welsh is pronounced as a K - there is not soft C in Welsh so you get c (K) eiliog (- kyelog).
