I checked the tyres today and the rear ones are the same make kendrik 215/65 16 the driver side is a good year wrangler 215/65 16 but the passenger side is different its a universal or something and the size is different as well it's 215/60 16 so there's like 5 mm difference on that one. Is it ok to run different ones on the back and just match the passenger side up with the driver side or do I need to change them all.

The 65/60 bit isn't a measurement (eg 65/60mm) - its a ratio.

215/65R16 = Diameter = 27", Sidewall = 5.5", Circumference = 84.8", Revs/Mile = 747.2
215/60R16 = Diameter = 26.2", Sidewall = 5.08", Circumference = 82.1", Revs/Mile = 771.4

So the 215/65R16 is about 20mm different in diameter - 3% larger than the 215/60R16. It desperately needs changing.

Ah i see what you mean. Ill get that changed today then it went through an mot 2 months ago arnt they suppose to check that ? Also could this be the source of my virbration problem ?

Sounds like the dealer is being a complete cock.

Unless you absolutely need 4WD right now, I'd take the VCU off again until you get the tyres and a new VCU sorted. This will help keep strain off the IRD and dif, and may help narrow down the vibration fault.

Maybe get another couple of Kendricks and fit them to the rear (on Freelanders new tyres must go on the back). Then get a new or reconditioned VCU and bearings.

I know you shouldn't have to pay for this but it sounds like you won't get anywhere with the dealer, and may save bigger bills if the IRD or dif goes.

Yes that's what I thought aswell. I was going to take it back for him to change the tyre but I'm sick of dealing with the guy to be honest. When I told him last time about the tyres needing to match and be the same pressure him and his son looked at me like I was an idiot. They say they have got 30 years experience dealing with land rovers pmsl I've learned more in a week reading this forum there is lots of great info on here. I sertainly won't buy anything else of him that's for sure.

I've got the car booked in for Monday to have all new tyres so I'll see if that makes a difference. Meanwhile over the weekend I'm gonna check the ird oil to see if it's got grey looking oil in there.

If the tyres are completely different change the tyres FIRST. You may find the VCU problem is really down to being constantly in play especially in reverse.
