I'm thinking of fitting a cd player to my s3. Any advice from anyone that has don't this on how to do it? Where to locate it? And where the speakers should go.

Josh :rolly:

(I'm determined to put one in even if I can't hear it over the loud talk coming from my dirty diesel!)

Cd is dead go for a iPod compatable head unit
Mount the speakers where ever they fit best I put mine in the dash on my old s2

I built 2 speakers into a wood then placed it across the roof above the drivers gead sitting on the roof rails I then built in a interior light it gives space above the wood for gloves etc and put the head ubit into the dash all from maplin for less than 50 pounds and its ipod compatible

My cd with iPod connection is fitted underside the cubby box lid ( outa sight;-) ) the speakers are shelf mounted ones two above little windows on rear of Landy and two smaller ones fitted just above ear level behind driver/passenger seats so don't have to have it belting out to hear it also mounted arieal inside works a treat regards jonny

I tried a CD player but it just wouldn't p-p-p-p-p-p-p-lay -n-n-n-n-n-icely. Cassette all the way! You can buy cassettes and players cheap and it's great fun mixing up tapes when you're supposed to be working....like being a teenager again

Bolt the CD player to a large block of concrete and support in the rear of the landy with a spiders web of bungee cords. You might just get to the end of the tracks without skipping. Much as I hate ipods they're definitely the way to go.

I made like a cubby box thing for the middle seat, had a radio from marlins i think it was and I got 2 speakers off eBay that had there own box, cut the cubby box to suit the speakers and radio, wires went up the side of the back window(mine is a pick up) and around the top channel, down the side of the windscreen(on the inside) through to the back of the dash and then through the bulk head were other wires like the fuel cut off go and speedo cable etc, went onto the battery for the constant live and I think it may have been the wiper switch that I went onto so that the radio turned on when I fired the beast up, was a total of bout 80-90£ but the radio was like 70, it was one that was far to high tech but I wanted to get it sorted so just got it, speakers were I think £12, plus you need some wire and crimps..... (having the circuit diagram helps a lot for wiring) I'm 15 and got it sorted so can't be that hard.
Hope I helped
Ben
