Right,

Driving home and I can hear running water??? Surely this is wrong?!

I have check the car for a bottle of something just incase it's that shaking...

Thanx!
Low coolant level leading to air in the system which makes a running water sound through the heater matrix on some cars.
The other possibility is water leaking through the pollen filter covers and filling the heater fan cavity.

Ahhhhhhhhhh....that would be why I just worked out that it's when I turn the fans up.....

I don't think it's filter leaking, it's not rained :)

Not today maybe, but there has been a lot of rain. Take a pollen filter cover off, pull the filter (when did you last change them?) have a look down the the fan blades with a torch.

I changed the about 6months ago and all was ok, sure it's coolant, been having to top up about once a week :(

Ouch!

Is the carpet damp in the driver's footwell?
