I have headlights!!

i have connected up my pass headlight, side light and indicator.
I have side light and indicator but no headlight or main beam.
What is the prime suspect? Fuses are OK and tried two different bulbs. There is a black box behind the dash which I think is the dim dip, can I just unplug it?

Earth connected up from the bulb plug?

Relay faulty

Does it have a relay? Early ones didn't, like mine, but I have retro fitted them cos of the girly wires and switches.
Op needs to test at the bulb and work back with a mm or a good bulb tester.

What about binding dim dip?

Relays are in front of gear stick with fuses, they are in mine ,it is a 1991, dont have photos.

It is quite difficult to see but are these the problem? A black box of tricks and a gold relay behind the gauges?

So both head lights are now fitted and I have nothing, not even flash which come from another circuit?
Do I have 2 duffs bulbs? Maybe?

Nowt will work if you've no earth.
Time to test not guess has arrived.
Go make or buy a simple bulb tester or get a cheap multimeter.

Oh, and yes, you could have 2 duff bulbs.

I am at the stage where I wish I hadn't put the dash in!!

I was hoping someone would pop in and tell me if I unplug the dim dip black box everything would be OK!!

Certainly unplug the dim/dip relay, but you'll need to put a short piece of wire across a couple of the terminals to give power to the lights. Search on here - it comes up frequently.

After much chasing, texting, cursing and 'reconnecting, I have headlights!!
