I noticed some water in the passenger foot well, having unblocked the air con tubes underneath the car a few weeks ago I cant figure it out. Today I noticed when I have the heating on and turned up a notch I can hear what sounds like water swishing around in the footwell? As I turn heater up it gets worse and when I turn it off it stops?

What is this? Could this be the source of the leak? The water is coming from the center of the footwell from behind the dash? When it was because the ac tube was blocked it was coming from the side by the middle of the dash?

Any ideas to the cause of the leak and the noise?

P38?? Guessing two seperate faults: heater hose `O` rings harden and leak. Could noise be foreign object (dry leaf) rubbing against fan??

Its a P38, and the sound is defo water swooshing around , the leak is not massive just the build up of the odd drop drop

Can`t imagine what "water swishing sound" is ! When you say it is affected by heater settings, do you mean temp settings?

I used to get that all the time on my old Disco 1 (After the LPG was fitted) NO WAY could I get that Air lock out ... ended up fittin a piece of 15mm Copper tube & a Tee piece wiv a "Central Heating" AUTO AIR VENT in it .......

That shifted the fooker .. in SECONDS!!!!!

Guess that would add-up: water leaking out, and at same time air leaking in? Bleeding system should cure noise, and as `Hooded Claw` says curing leak ain`t so easy....

had the same thing on mine mate and was water getting in the pollon filter and sitting in the fan and when you turn the fan up the water sprays out and gives the sound you described also the wet floor have a listen near the glove box and alter the fan speed and see what happens hth

Thats exactly what happens kj200sx, the higher I turn the fan speed up the louder the swishing sound gets, as soon as I cut the fan speed it stops. It is LPG too though I cant see that having anything to do with it?

open bonnet and 2 rectangle shaped acces points either side at bottom of the screen undo screws and remove and see if filters are wet or maybe not even there as far as getting rid of the water i took the fan out and dried it out and sound/wet floor gone but still the odd drop if heavy rain and parked on the wrong angle? sorry to jack the thread but has anyone ever sealed these access points with say lsx/silicone or similar as would not be hard to remove if access was needed andsure it would cure the problem???

when i changed my pollen filters the covers had been sealed with some silicone i just scraped away the stuff left on so i had a good surface for the silicone to bond to then just resealed when i was finished. Ive never had any leak issue from that area, just the top of the windscreen!!!!

Now the front central locking has stopped working arghh!!

Both front doors have stopped working when you use the fob but can be opened manualy, all the other locks working as normal.

I fear this is a wiring problem due to the water getting in the other day?

Fuses seem ok, I dont know what to do to fix it, its funny both doors went at same time which makes me think its a electrical or cut out thing?

Any one got any ideas? As for the original leak am still not sure either, but when it rained heavy the next day there was some water on the outside by near the doors in the footwell in identical places? Have check ed the pollen filters and they have been sealed in so it cant come from there?

The locks are the problem now, I dont want to take appart the door and lock mechanisim when it may be a short circut?????

think im going to do the same (silicone) or maybe make a foam/rubber gasket up for them

There is a neat trick here I used to do to seal those old metal crital windows..

Clean both edges, then coat on edge with fairy liquid, apply the sealent to the other edge, close together, but not all the way and leave so that the sealent goes off, then tighten - the fairy will stop the sealant sticking to the other edge therefore allowing it to be opened :p

in the front footwells there are two panels on the sides that can be removed, behind them there are multi connectors that can get gunged up,clean both of these out and see if that makes the locks work again.;)

Hands that cure swishes can be soft as your arse with mild green Fairy liquid.:D:D:D
