So after months spent rebuilding the engine/fuel tank etc, I got the D2 back on the road in December with a view to selling it.
Sale fell through.
So I thought, lets use the bloody thing for whats its meant for, lets have some fun!
So off to Yarwell Quarry this morning.
Cracking day, in lots of ways!
Nice friendly people, lots of play space.
After 10 mins I got to use the winch to pull out a Mitsubishi doing a "Das Boot" impression!
Then lots of driving up n down "impossibly" steep slopes, low range, 1st gear, and up she went!
Just blew me away, I genuinely couldn't believe how capable the D2 (on road tyres and no CDL) can be.
The Hill Decent feature works a treat, exactly as described.
I dont have a "normal" car in the UK anymore, so I have a rental 2015 Focus, lots of bells and whistles, but the Disco is the car Ill be driving for the next week or so, its just so much fun, even on the road!!

LOL should read Love not Lover!!!!

Glad to hear you are enjoying it mate, mine is a slightly older one but it is crazy what a stock one will do even on normal tyres. :)

Thanks! Im still hankering for a D3, keep browsing Copart for a suitable project, then need to find some money!
Hi Ray, shes running a treat! Actually the day at quarry seems to have made her run even better!
Popping into Rogers in Bedford tomorrow, they are going to code in the new injector and check the other codes, all for £40!!
I may take her up to Scotland for a work visit next week, that will run her in very nicely!
Here she is looking cleaner!

Mark that's great news, I think it will be better for a good run to bed it in, it's encouraging to see all of your hard work has come good, I'm still thinking about re building my engine this year, I want to keep the Defender and I thought why not get the engine in top nick while parts are readily available and I am, still young enough to do the hard graft ( maybe).
How could you have even thought of selling this great looking machine? it looks the dogs knob.

Hi Ray
I know, its very tempting to keep it, but Im out of the UK for weeks at a time now so its not worth having a car here, but if I dont get the price Im looking for, Ill hang on to her!

Hi Landyman
I think its a King, but ill check the paperwork, came with it fitted but looks pretty easy to install, certainly worked well at Yarwell, pulled out a Mitsubishi pickup with a few people in and filled with a lot of water!
