Well, i dont know, coudnt you live with the S/R and beat the price down somewhat.

he would not move on price 5k for a 04 sport premium with 86k on the clock

what could it be the motor was turning but the roof was not opening?

Callow bank near Hathersage. Not many club members fly in winter but I got myself winter flying gear last year so maybe I can catch some good westerly breezes over this winter :).

Ah, tis nice flying country out there.
We're always in that neck of the woods, it's just up the road from me sort of.

Good you're prepared the wind'll cut you in half out there.

You did right walking away, the issue isn't the sunroof (mine broke shortly after i got it and i've not missed it tbh) it's the attitude of the garage toward fixing it.
If they are like that with the sunroof i'd not like to see what would happen if it was something more serious

yes mate your right the issue was with the warranty more than the sunroof!

Good on you mate, you made a wise decision there :). Are you set on a sport? What about an HSE or something nice like that? More of them around is all.

Will.

I would have walked away too. Not fixed means it's eggspensive or he dun't have a monkey to fix it. Makes yer wonder what else int working...

thanks for all your comments !!!!

yes i was looking again yesterday and a hse may be a option as nearly the same spec as a sport!

i got the cash so i done have to px my 08 plate astra elite i can sell that after or give it my wife to use :eek:so she does not drive the freelander :D

now do i wait to find one thats been done lifted etc but like finding hens teeth!!!

the only thing is i like one sooner rather than later as winter is coming fast and i want to play with it :D

Have you actually checked the spec of an HSE compared to the Sport model?

I say that because of your wording "nearly the same spec as a Sport"

In reality (apart from the decals, the 18" wheels, and the lowered suspension) the HSE spec exceeded that of the Sport.

I was disappointed that the engine for example is no more powerful than that in the other models, and there were no 'real' sporty bits - it's mostly an image - nothing wrong in that - but it's no quicker. So I bought the HSE!

If you intend to go off-road, the sport is at a disadvantage, even if you do lift it 2".

Also as the diameter of the wheel increases the choice of tyre reduces - most of the AT tyres for example are 16"

Singvogel.

yes i did i could only see the wheels ar 18" and that it's lower and the sport badge and the other way i seen a few hse with nav on them!

thanks lee

Yep if you have the money then I'd go for an HSE. The lift kit is about £180 ish I think, but I would personally reccomend seeing how you get on without it first - the extra two inches comes in handy at serious offroad sites but the stock clearance should be absolutely fine for greenlaning and moderate offroading. If you get something with 16" rims then you will have a choice of the best AT tyres such as BF Goodrich (expensive but long lived and brilliant) General Grabber AT's (cheaper and also brilliant) and Conti Cross Contact AT's. Getting some good AT tyres will do more for the Car's off road abilities than the lift - it'll give the traction control more to work with :).
