Enjoy! (Oh and invest in a decent socket set!) you will be getting spanner rash in the not too distant future. (I've started to enjoy fannying about with mine) there are some 'essential' mods that need doing to 'unstrangle'(not even a word I know) ie: egr blank and bmw crankcase breather to name just two.

Hope you enjoy the new motor, got the same one but in silver. Its really worth doing all the mods you'll read about on this forum, EGR bypass, silicone hoses, BMW crankcase breather etc but best of all is install a Synergy2a, all those combined makes it a much better car in my opinion.

Well done friend and welcome to Freelander ownership :). Just make sure that the transmission is all tickety-boo as MHM said and everything'll be just dandy :).

I'm driving back from holiday tomorrow and mine (also '04, but 1.8) has been a complete joy all week. Looks like all that work I've done on it has really paid off, it's a real honey now.

Enjoy it!

Oh and if you're in southish Yorks, looks like a few of us on the forum are in that general area so if you want to do some laning if and when we go, just give us a shout!

thanks for all your comments!

i been here a while now just been looking for a good freelander to come up at the right price!

i need to test the freelander out to make sure everything is working as is should be i have a 3 month warranty from the garage i am buying it from!

etc
etc
etc

oh i hope to find some local people who go off road and have lots of fun in it

regards lee

Congratulations and enjoy.... keep a check on those 17" wellies tho, not cheap.

errrr...that'll be 18's he's got not 17's!

enjoy it, do all the mods and it will serve you well buddy.

as madhatman said earlier... BEFORE you drive it away, get on your back and get underneath and make sure that the VCU and propshaft are there. there are people on here who have bought cars only to find out later that they are missing. tis an easy way of disguising VCU/diff/IRD problems that can be very expensive to fix....

No affordable snorkels available at the moment but who knows what the future holds :).

MHM, I'm enjoying lovely drizzly west wales weather at the moment, I'll see about my little temp problem when I get home ;).

Will.

Will, your location states nottingham yet you say south yorkshire ish.

Im from Doncaster, where exactly are you, fancy a bit of off roading myself.

I'm in central Nottingham until I can remedy it. Well I often go up Sheffield way to fly model gliders, but it's not far if you're in Doncaster. In fact the green lanes in the peaks should be about mid way between us. But me, Diesel Do and I think Freelaner and some others are in the general area :).
