Hybrid Turbo for the 2.7 TdV6

Maybe some mods could really bring out the second life of it.

The second life could end up being a weigh in at the scrap yard. Maybe think about a more stable base engine before modding it.
Its up to you but I just dont think that engine has a very good rep for doing much too without a lot of risk.

Unless you're looking to have a custom steel crankshaft made, I'd not bother.
It's well known that the TDV6 breaks crankshafts for no reason, other than it's just too weak for the job it does.

I seriously doubt you'll get 280-300 BHP out of it anyway, 220 BHP would be about all you'll see without extreme mods to the fuel system. A diesel needs more fuel to make power, not just more boost. But this engine is simply too weak to last long enough to make it worthwhile going to the expense.

You're better off fitting a TDV8 instead, which is stronger and much more powerful out the box.

must confess never knew a turbo could add that extra amount of power

The turbo delivers up to 184% power (160 extra HP) over the factory specs. It is a great choice for someone looking for a bit extra HP from their daily driver. MuchBoost turbo allows you to get more from your engine and enjoy it even more than you’ve been so far.

Not sure calling the engine weak is remotely correct in any sort of mechanical or engineering sense. The basic same engine in 3.0 litre guise was sold with over 300bhp from the factory and the engine is still in production today in the Ford F150 and new Ranger. The engine was also used by Citroen and Jaguar.

And likewise, if the factory 3.0 litre could make over 300bhp in standard guise, there is no reason a 2.7 can't produce significantly more power in the aftermarket with the correct corresponding mods. As for the crank issues. Yes they exist, but I do not believe there is any evidence they are Horse Power related failures. Unless you have some links to say otherwise.
