Hi all , me again!

Sorry for asking a lot of questions but its my first range rover after years of saving and putting off so every beep and buzz scares the wallet out of my pocket!

When I first start it on a morning and the odd time at traffic lights I hear a buzz/hum from behind the speedometer area, when I pull away it stops after a second or so, it also stops if I don’t move for a while. Everything is working just curious to know if its normal or "something about to break"
Thanks
Steve

Nothing to hum or buzz in there. Maybe what you can hear is the brake pump pressurising the system. If it is on too often maybe the accumulator is on it's way out.

Perhaps just something a litle loose and resonating with the engine vibration. Does it persist at idle or when the engine is switched off..........

Another vote for the brake pump - try pressing on the brake pedal (a few times if necessary) and see if it causes the humming noise to start. If it hums every time you press, then the brake accumulator needs replacing.

Cheers

Jerry

Resetting the SRS will not affect anything else as it has it's own comms line to the OBD connector:)
Might be cheaper in the long run to invest in Nanocom and reset it yourself, you will also be able to use it to daignose and correct faults on all the P38 ECU's:D

hi datatek, that sounds like a sensible thing to do - do you know which one i need and where is best to purchase from? i assume thry are idiot proof as im not a computer whizz by any means!

thanks again for teh advice, its much appreciated

www.blackbox-solutions.com just look for Nanocom for the P38:D Supposedly quite simple to use as long as you read and understand the instructions first. If you can read the faults yourself, even if you need a garage to do the work it will help to stop them ripping you off. The faults do need some interpretation but there are people on here who can help.:)

If buying a tool is to dear, last week i paid for fault reading and resetting all faults incl. SRS.
Mighty £10 at local indie with autologic

Was thinking of buying but main purpose was getting rid of SRS warning for upcoming MOT

Thanks, will look at getting one but may need to wait a couple of months till the 'fix the toy' fund is topped up again!

cheers
