Hum coming from snorkel?

Hi

Bought a defender in the last week, and when it gets above about 50mph a humming noise comes from the front right of the landy. It sounds like when you blow into a beer bottle and you get that resonating noise. Could this be my wheel bearing or snorkel? Im just guessing... Im slightly new to landys.

haha. nah it a safari snorkel.

is it not the whistle from the turbo when it spools up?

Surely he'd notice that before he hits warp factor 8.

no its more of a low pitch hum...

Are the tyres in contact with the tarmac?

yea generally.

check its fitted correctly as it may be it vibrating, barring that it might just be the noise it makes as it cuts through the air

try turning the top round and see if it still does it

Do you have a roof rack fitted?

Road noise from chunky tyres - does it have ATs or MTs fitted?

I can hear the induction noise through mine a tad but not to the level you describe.

what does it smell like..........

I did. she insisted that i cut her nose off before moving in with him. She nose him well!!!

No roof rack. Big chuncky tyres but I would have thought that it if it was the tyres it would get louder the faster I go but it only happens at 50+

I recall on my old 90 with snorkel i got a low humming noise, I put it down to the air being sucked in as it got a bit louder when the turbo kicked in. Try disconnecting the tube that runs from the snokel to the air filter and see if it sounds different?
