If it was a reasonable price I'd like to buy the tool for inserting the above which appears to go under the Part No. LRT 54-001. Another manufacturers copy would be fine and probably a lot cheaper but having searched Rimmers and Paddocks with no luck I'm asking if anybody has any knowledge of this.

The reason for this is that I think I'm starting to get early signs of rear wheel bearing wear and having scrambled about trying to find a suitable size implement when I replaced the front bearings, a purpose made tool will save a lot of aggravation.

Here's a tip. Remove drive flange. Turn drive flange upside down. Inside hub seal onto lip of drive flange with inner part of the seal facing up. Place on hub. Knock seal into hub using a hammer on the drive flange. It seats it perfectly and to the correct depth. Now step back and marvel at the money you've saved.

Another tip. Beg, borrow or steal an old bearing race. It's an exact fit. Use a small hammer to tap the seal in. Wolf's tip is great too. I'll try it. Thanks Wolf!

Also good for knocking in new outer races for the bearings, but needs a cut in it first otherwise you ain't getting it back out again!

Correct wolf. In fact i keep a selection of different bearing races. I keep a few with a slit in them to drive new races in and complete ones (without a slit) to drive hub seals in. Albert's suggestion is worth looking into too.

If you need an old outer race I have one you can have, let me have your address and I will post it out tomorrow for you.

If you ask nicely I will even cut a bit out so it can be removed easier.

Cheers

Ivan

Well what a site this is - thank you everybody for your ideas and thanks to you Ivan for your kind offer. Never thought of using an old bearing with a cut out in it - now I know, I can modify this at my end using a removed bearing but I appreciate the kind offer.
