hi
i want to fit leather electric seats from a HSE into a P38 DT which has velour seats, will the wiring be there for the electric seats or will i have to run some wires in

Alan

iv just fitted leather into my 4.0 ltr. which had the velour trim. seats where manual new ones electric. not sayin the dt is the same but traced a seperate harness to the ecu unit thing under the drivers seat and was just a plug in. only things i havent got working is the heated seats . as control panel on the other car had climate control. and couldnt use panel.

hi

i am not concered about the seat heaters either or any memory option for each driver all i need is the electric seat to move, where did you get the wire harness from?

will only work if you have a hi line becm.

hi i read that on another post but i assume it plugs in there because thats the nearest power supply so i am thinking if i don't have a hi line becm i can run a cable from fuse box under drivers seat and connect that to the wire loom for the seats after all its just suppling power to electric motors in the seats or am i missing something?

Thats exactly what i was thinking if i didnt have the highline... it cant take more than that, can it?

i went for manual cream leather, they are easier to pick up ,or change the seat rails from your cloth seats if you get electric,te only thing you wont have is movement on the back part of the seat, then sell the motors etc and get some cash back.

hi

here's my update

i have fitted a complete interior from a HSE into my p38 dt all has gone well except the drivers seat which has no power to the seat, i have checked the fuse box and the fuse is alright
how many plug ins does the drivers seat have? i plug-ed in three the same as the passengers but seem to have a spare connector which has no where to go so i think that is to do with the memory option (seat has memory but i don't have the control box for it)
as the drivers seat is on a separate power supply from the passengers i suspect there is a problem there, what i am wandering can i connect the positive wires from passengers seat to the drivers seat if so which wires do i need to bridge

Good effort! I still havent found the electric seats for mine. You didnt get them off ebay did you? If you did i was probably bidding against you for them!

I dont see why you couldnt bridge them, but i wouldnt know what to bridge yet. I think you need to have a play with a multimeter!

hi

i have found the problem, the wire that i thought was for the memory option plugs into the Becm under the fuse box now the drivers seat has sprang to live with memory as well :D

But in getting the seat working i have mysterious managed to touch move or do something and now have a SRS fault on the air bag, this needs a computer plug in to source fault and clear, don't think it will be much as i ran battery below 12 volts and needed a jump start so i reckon its just lost power and needs clearing

hi

have fixed the SRS fault on the air bag, it turned out to be the fuse box in the engine bay, when i was wiring the wipers i removed plug RL-1 from underneath the fuse box and wired the relay direct to it (by passes the trouble some fuse box) but it needs this plugged in for the SRS circuit to work (Range Rover and there double circuit board fuse box) so i have spliced into the wire loam for the wipers to work and plugged RL-1 back into the fuse box and all is fine didn't even need to get fault cleared

when you got the seats did you get the part of the loom that joins the seats together?,it run across the tunnel.

hi
i had to get the wire loom separately, there are 2 connections to the BECM then one for earth then the rest splits into drivers seat and passengers seat,my drivers seat has a memory controller and the passengers is just electric (non memory), the drivers seat works intermittently the problem being the seat outstation (part number AMR3359), these are expensive for what they are if i could get hold of a circuit diagram for the inside i would make my own

im sure i got one of those somewhere from a set of seats i stripped down.

i have tracked one down for £13 BUT its in Australia so wont be here for a week or so, its unreal that i have to get one from the other side of the world but the quotes i have had here range from £110-£212:jaw:

i there i changed my seats from cloth to lether and did a way with the drivers seat outstation and just got a nuther passenger seat wire harnes so still got the outstation sat in my garege if any body needs one. as my bcm was a low line one and hall my seats work ok exept the memery part

We have leather electric or manual seats as well as the various looms you would need for either version.
Easy to tell if your Becm is Highline. In the bottom left hand corner of the sticker with part number on it you will see either a H or an L, high or lowline.
Essentially it is down to your becm but there are other ways to wire all this in even if you dont have a H version of becm.
