Freelander 1 HP fuel pump

I had to do this job twice, as the pump was still leaking after the first rebuild. The problem was corrosion on the 'cylinder heads' that needed cleaning off.

Hi just to touch base with the corrosion on the cylinder heads would you recommend using wet and dry emery cloth to clean.

Also did you torque the head cap bolts up if so what too.

240 grit wet and dry, wetted with diesel and laid on a mirror for flatness. For the block side, I plugged the holes with blue rag and tidyed up with a pan scourer - they weren't too bad.

For the head bolts, go round as you would for a cylinder head, inner then outer. For the first 'stage', snug up with your hand gripping the head of the 1/4" ratchet, then go round again and tweak a little more using the handle.
