Hi There, I have a 1990 90 with a 19J and I'm in the process of swapping out the fuel filter. I've had a tough time getting it started again and have scoured the threads to find an answer, but have had no success.

Where I'm hung up is on bleeding the HP fuel pump (I think). I've used the manual lifter pump to bleed the top of the fuel pump and can get fuel to flow. I can't get the bleed screw to do the same on the Cav pump. I have pressure on the pump arm when I pump it but no fuel comes out of the top screw. I followed others recommendations and pulled the solenoid, it seems to work as I can hear it click, and tried pumping then as well as cranking over - still nothing out of HP pump.

I also tried pulling the fuel lines off of the injectors and cranking while the plugs were removed - dribbles of fuel.

I think that there's still air in the system - Is there another bleed screw or place to relieve air??

Thanks in advance!

Is the car new to you?
If not was it running fine before?
Take the fuel filter off again and check you do not have a seal left in the top housing very easy to miss it

It's not new to me - was running reasonably well before. Took it overlanding after which it would sometimes lose power when accelerating. Thought that an old fuel fuel could be a problem so decided to change it. Otherwise, fine with a rebuilt CAV pump from 2 months ago...

I'll check the filter housing again - you're the second to mention it. Thanks
