Hi

My dim dip transformer seems to have failed so i need to get to it to replace/un plug it.

Has anyone any photos of where it is ? or any suggestions on what i will need to take off to get to it ?

Many thanks

If its an older defender it is behind the instrument panel. Its quite expensive so its probably just easier to unplug it and this will just mean you get the side lights and no dim dip.

Its actually called a dim dip relay because all it does is use a relay to switch on the dip beam via a big resistor (hence the heat sink)

mine was behind the drivers speaker in the lower dash panel, depending on how old yours is, just removing the relay may or may not work,
On mine, I then had to bridge the 2 blue/red stiped wires.
other option is the resistor itself, which I beleive is tucked in a rather inaccessible spot under the drivers side wing.

Go with mine, cos so is mine :)

Its not there  The pic shows where it should be and where i have seen it on other defenders but in its place is a red relay which is for the headlights but when i remove it all that happens is i end up with no full beam instead and this one i just replaced because it was buzzing

I also have no idea what the yellow relay on the left does, pulled that out and it made no difference to anything.:confused::confused:

Any ideas where else it could be ?

Thanks for your help

It's the red (pink) one, you then need to bridge the wires I mentioned before so everything works again (just without the dim dip)
