How would this affect performance and drive ability?

To me there comes a point where gearing will dictate the effectiveness of huge lift and wheels as surely such mods have a massive impact on the torque and power transfer? Or am I missing something?

It's not as bad as it looks to be honest. Yes the tyres would soak up a lot of it but the lift is just with mog' portal axles so the gearing id of thaught would be lower anyway, thus equalling out a little bit of the dragg from the tyres.

Apart from the drag how would gearing be affected? I'm my eyes a defender is the ultimate off road vehicle; easy to maintain and hard as nails. However surely fitting huge wheels would impact upon this ability as the gearing would be hugely affected? Slow acceleration and reduced torque!

Have seen a conversion local to me similar to that with an ex bin lorry twin turbo cummins engine. Now that combined with galvanised chassis and bulkhead and doors would be a dream vehicle.

You do get it with series vehicles where you put the bigger 750s on instead of 650s and that makes it faster but gives a slower accelaration. Mind you they aren't exactly nippy to start with

I suppose it would depend what engine is fitted?

Bigger tyres effectively just increase your gearing, the torque at say, 30 or 40 mph remains exactly the same, you will perhaps just have to use a lower gear.

I could imagine it being an issue with a car with a long set of gears, but I'm sure most of us who use a landy on the black stuff wish we had a 6th cog - no?
