Good evening to one and all, and a merry Landy Christmas to everyone. What
experience have people had with Range Rover axles or Land Rover axles and
LARGE tyre / wheel combinations, such as the U.S. type rock crawlers, with
tyres sizes over 35 inch dia and what sort of mods can be carried out to
these axles to improve the possible problems??

This sort of thing has been covered in the magazines many
times - most have back issue section on their web sites that
should help find the info.

101's come with 9x16 tyres on as standard (meaning 34-35inch
diameter), and there are a fair few people fitting bigger unimog
wheels to them.
So you might want to read up on their axle arrangement, as they can
take the strain.

for mags try
landrover enthusiast (LRE), landrover owner (LRO) and landrover world
to start you off.
Google should get you the exact URL's

You do the maths first, then you do something like this:

http://www.101fc.net/grumble-wheels/index.htm

The axle on a 101 was designed originally to go on a 7.5tonne truck.

Thanks for a very interesting web site, looks very nice, like the tyres alot
:)
How do you know the 101 axles were designed for a 7.5 ton truck ??? what was
the truck, do you have any more info about it ??

I asked the manufacturer.

There wasn't one. It was designed for 'a' 7.5 tonne truck.
