how to reset ecu???

Have you simply dissed the battery and pumped the break pedal to drain any residual current then reconnect battery, it make take overnite for fault code to go, or I,m probably wrong!!

If you don't know what you are talking about, best stay stum. Brakes and engines are not the same. Brakes do not discharge residual current, Fault codes do not as a rule disappear overnight:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Pumping the brakes with the engine off depressurises the brake system if servo or an ABS hydraulic system.

Adjusting the interior mirror up and down, or so the urban myth goes, makes your wrist ache.
:behindsofa:Disconnecting the battery does not clear hard faults.

Pumping the accelerator, especially on a V8, with the engine running, clears the petrol tank in no time.

Hi guys.
I think I have the same problem with my p38 diesel. After putting the diagnosis machine shows renew ecu. I don't know what to do any help pls.

Thanks Jeedwood.
I used T4 system. My range rover is p38 diesel 1999 bmw engine auto. So the fault came up from the screen says Renew ECM. 029 internal ECM fault. Ambient value1, when the fault occurred (1)000. Secondly when the fault occurred (RPM)(Coolant Temp) 132.

@wammers is the diesel guru.

Not used Testbook. @Rick-the-Pick probably knows what it is on about.

Normally the engine control module is pretty robust. Sometimes it loses sync and you have to copy the security code from the engine ECU to the BECM. Might be referring to that?

Hopefully one of the gurus will be along soon.

Thanks buddy let's wait I believe the gurus will show up in no time, because driving a car that whenever you relise the foot from fuel padel it cuts of power is problem.

Engine cutting out when lifting off sounds like a problem with the FIP fuel quantity servo. Wammers is the one who would know. If it is a fault with the EDC, second hand ones are cheap enough on Ebay, make sure you get the right one for your year of car. It will need re-syncing to the BECM.

Thanks but how do I re-syncing it with BECM. The reason I am asking is because here a lot of things you have to do it yourself we don't have good garage for cars like this one. What type of machine will I need to perform this
