Help,
I need to remove the starter motor from my Disco TD5,
I have got the 2 bottom bolts, the power cable etc of but cant figure out how to get the last nut (top) of as I cant see it.
Any suggestions on how this can be undone would be very welcome.
Regards Ron

I believe the solenoid contacts are in need of replacement and I wanted to check over the starter motor at the same time as replacing the solenoid contacts.
( I am just getting a click have checked the usual battery etc)
Just the top nut to remove and hopefully will be able to remove it.

Ron

Obviously it's up to you but nothing goes wring with the starter apart from the solenoid contacts, it's easy to take the 3 screws off the solenoid cap and pull the solenoid out and replacer the contacts with the starter still in the engine, done it loads of times (disconnect Bart first lol)

15mm socket and a 6 inch ish extension ,you need contact and plunger kit ,if starter works well except when clicking dont bother stripping starter

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my thread.
I have now removed the Solenoid end cap the plunger and spring, I cant seem to see any contacts to replace? where are they and what do they look like.
I have ordered a rebuild kit from ebay and the picture shows a number of small parts which I cant seem to see in the solenoid body, guidance would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance.

If you use the wonderful search engine "GOOGLE", you'll find all the info you need.

Even down to hands on videos on how it's done, which can be found
on UTUBE.

Have fun.

Take off the positive cables go on the solenoid both sides the take off the half nuts left on the studs, then push stud and should fall out into the plunger chamber take out and fit the new ones
