I don't want to break it, I am quite heavy handed.

I have tried to pull out the maf plug whilst squeezing the lugs at the side without success.

I have also tried moving the lugs away from the plug without success.

Can any kind person tell me exactly how the plug can be removed without me breaking it?

TD4 2006.

I worked it out.

Push in the lugs one at a time and gently lever the plug up with a screwdriver.
The lugs are part of the plug in connector.

Now need to find a tool to get the actual maf out.

I have the correct security bit but not enough room for the screwdriver attachment, so need to improvise. :)

I did end up using a 1/4 inch drive ratchet.

However.......

I thought I had the correct bit that fitted it, but I don't.
I managed to remove one bolt but cannot remove the second one at all.

To make matters worse, I cannot tighten the one I removed fully, so I am now knackered unless I can locate the correct bit to fit in the bolt heads.

I suppose if I can't, I can make a groove in the head of the one I have out and use a flat blade screwdriver to replace it tight.

Does anyone know the exact size / type bit needed to help an idiot out? :(

Problem solved.

I have sourced a 'Torx Plus security set' not too far from me in Machine Mart, so will pick a set up tomorrow.

in the security torx set u will find a two pronged one, if ur careful can use that, i then replaced the screws with ones without the small pin in the centre of the torx screw

as some are 4 or 5 sided,

rover ron sells the set, or like i did used a 2 pin security screw one, with a uj on the end of a short bar

gary

All done now.

Whilst the plug was disconnected, I took it for a spin and the acceleration was noticeably faster.

Looks like my maf is failing then.

I gave it a clean and a spray with 'maf cleaner' not that I expect much if any improvement.

Looks like I shall have to get a synergy sometime soon. Just need to convince the wife as money is tight at the moment.
