ok, so iv just had my tax and insurance renewals, and i been off road twice in the last 6 mounths so im thinking of selling up.

I have a 1991 hard top 90 with 100k on the clock 1 previous owner most things work and considering its a defender is fairly tidy. + has some kit on it

now I have seen some ad for 6k for this type of thing, i dont really think its worth quite that but id like to add as much value to it befor/if i sell.

So is it worthg painting it?
putting a cheep lift on it?
rear x member is well sorted and sollid but is patches so should i put a new one on?

AS there is always people asking if trucks are worth what what people are asking, im asking them, what makes you choses your new truck?

I'm a novice but I would say it's not worth painting, considering that will cost about a grand. If thats it in the photo it looks like a nice one. How much would you be asking for it? A lift kit sounds like a good thing to do though.

i think to the right person youd get anything from 2000-5000 grand defenders prices vary so much
but if your selling id sell it as it is dont spent money on it as some people may not want a lift kit fitted etc
just get all the main things done ie chassis tip top (as you can)
mot,tax etc there all selling points dig out all paper work you have

dont bother with the lift kit, I was put off by modded defenders when I was looking.
Then again everyone is different.

Id say clean it up and sell as is

Most people who want a modded LR have their own ideas of what they want, so leave it alone. You also almost never get back the value of the parts. Better to have it as clean and straight as possible, with the minimum list of 'will need doing soons'.

You know what you paid for it so thats your reserve price.... clean and polish every inch of it. As mentioned people would rather buy a straight one and then add bits. New Xmember will cost you £350 fitted... 12 moths MOT is worth more than 6 months tax. I would maybe replace the broken grill... thats it. A 200tdi will sell itself with 100k on the clock. It is rare and with some history... maybe over 4k is possible. Maybe let it ride on ebay for 2 weeks with a realistic reserve. Put it on here for sale... plenty looking for a nice 90.

ok well i wasn't expecting this much feed back this quick, so thank you all.

3k would see me a tidy profit from last year so talk of 3 even 4 k sounds promising.

I porbly should of said i have some time lots of tools and can weld and spry well enough .so after reading and looking round a bit more , i thinking i will

repaire the doors, ( i will enjoy that as well)

colour code the miss match pannles

sort the minor electicals.

13 months mot

and try selling it.

you basically want people to turn up and say 'it needs nothing doing'
12 mth mot.
chassis all welded up and waxoyled.
bulkehead solid
holes in floor repaired if you have them
new grill :)
clean the interior really really well!
colour match the panels and give a damn good clean and dare i say polish?!
if you get it top notch i think you'll see £4k at a push imo.
