how to flush engine block

morning all

can someone lease tell me how to flush the engine block on a 300tdi disco, through the drain plug(13mm near the alternator by the dipstick tube).

1. Take a day off work with a bad back.
2. Undo engine block drain bung.
3. Shove hose pipe in bung hole and turn on tap.
