How to fit powerfold mirrors to early FL1.

I have tried to source some info on fitting powerfold mirrors to my early FL1. (99 L series). I have read that its easy, but you should remove the gasket before you fit them. I did this when i fitted the RH mirror here the other day, but i found a leak so took a new look at it today and got them both fitted with the gasket in place.

After dismantling your old mirror you have to bore out two holes in the door skin.





When this is done you have to cut where the bolt fastens at the mirror about 3mm over the gasket.



Very easy job indeed. Here im done and just need to get the wiring done.

The wiring for the mirrors is the same. There is just one extra connector for the powerfold motion thats missing. This one is not present on the early ones. The extra wiring in the picture is for the tweeter speaker.

This is how im gonna wire up my power fold mirrors to the keyfob. It will fold/unfold on drivers door "superlocked"; "not superlocked" and manual via the fold button.

Just made a little change for the possibility to turn off superlock folding if needed.

I just had a on-off-on switch and did it that way but through the ignition so when that was off I knew they were off I will try to get a drawing up

That's exactly how I made my remote power fold system work.
Definitely take the feeds from the superlock motor.

Today i have wired up the power fold mirrors to fold/unfold on the keyfob(superlock). Everything is working as it should do. I even made a youtube video just to show off
