Hi guys.

This may have been mentioned in a previous thread, so I apologise as I couldn't find it.

Is there an easy way to find out what type of Discovery 1 I may have, in terms of GS or XS etc - I know its not an ES, by looking at the type of equipment it has or from a chassis number.

Was only wondering?

Nigel

Does it not state on the log book? I would have thought it would as the trim level may affect the insurance groupings? Just a thought. What does your insurance document show? Normally the vehicle registration brings up the trim code, it did on mine when they read it back to me.

ive thort the same with my 97 v8, just ses v8i on the back, its got cloth seats leccy winduz cruise air con no airbags what would that make it?

Ok, firstly there's the unnamed entry level model then the unbadge S model, leccy window were standard, don't know about cruise but as it's a V8 I would say it's standard, A/C was an option as was the airbags and sunroofs.
The S had alloy wheels with five flat spokes called Castor.

As alloys were "specific" to model that is one way to tell what model you have. So what wheels do you have??

The best way is to ask your local dealer to decode the vin number but they dont always have the info.
I wanted a paint code for my 95 300tdi and landrover dont have any records for it.
A lot of wheels were optional so looking at the pic its had lots of extras so that may include the wheels.

yep, but the 'whine' i couldnt hear turned out to be a fecked gearbox (packed up without warning 6 weeks and 1200 mile) that cost me best parts of a grand but im happy i decided to stay with it cos its fecking top notch and goes like stink :) :D

Look like an not the only one?

How is this for a question also, my 1997 Discovery 300tdi has no air con, manual sunroofs but has speakers on the windscreen pillars, my father had a 1997 ES and that did not have those speakers.
