my dad as just phoned,asking how the fook do you fit a new petrol tank to this fooking 90, fooked if i know dont mess with em so i,ll ask you guys cause i dont know, says he kicked it out cause he is pi**ed with it
 
undo all the bolts, try again to undo all the bolts. go fetch angle grinder. suddenly remember to empty petrol out tank. try to undo emptying bolt. bash things.

if successfully undo bolts and rubber mountings aren't too kak, next pull tank from under vehicle. pull harder. pull REALLY hard. decide to remove side skirt, like that'll make a difference. pull again. marvel at how tight it is. look carefully and marvel that it looks bigger than the space.

remember to disconnect the breather pipe from the filler. and the wires. and the supply and return pipes, spilling fuel as you do.

pull the tank forward AND down realising that its now moving a bit. PULL LIKE A BULL IN HEAT.

scuff nuckles and pull shoulder as tank suddenly comes free.

Refitting is the opposite of removal.

If your rubbers are kak, a shocker mounting cut in half each side of each part of tank does the job just as well..
 
currently removing seat box (dont go there)due to rather excessive lips round the edges and the fooking thing wont even fit between the chassis and the sill rail so we are going in from above and to top it off me fooking grinders blew up
QUALITY REPLACEMENT PARTS where can you get en from:confused:
 
even though it looks like it'll not go under cos of the lips - it will if you manouver it - taking out the seatbox, christ thats even harder than taking out the fuel tank!!

wiggle it, pull forward, wiggle a bit more, pull forward a bit more - lift up and to the side a bit, wiggle abit, move forward - it will eventually come out and you dont end up realising your seatbox is fooked too. better to leave that for another time discovery.
 
I did mine much as Muddy sez Give it a bucket full of ****s an you'll get there. Taking the bit of channel off that goes between the bulkhead and the tub will make things easier as will taking the seat box out but yer making a nell of a lot more work.
 
BIT DARK NOW BUT TRUST ME IF THE GRINDER WERENT BROKE(bugger **** fart bugger) i could take an inch all round off it and it would still be tight
fortunately not many bolts holding seatbox in haha as for the side rail last time i took one of them off took nearly as long just to find the bolts amongst the crud as it did to take off
 
tried belting it and other things if the grinder had been working i could take an inch off all round and the tank would still be tight to shove up before commencing with the drastic action of the seatbox removal but for tonight fook him he,ll after wait till tomorrow to dark now and only one bolt left in the seatbox to grind off all the rest flew undone.....and yes it was the last bolt we came to undo before you ask
 
no wonder i packed in being a grease monkey nearly 20 yrs ago!
i could,nt really giva hoot when its done cause it aint mine,and it would appear to be an old bearmach one brought from craddocks,YOU NEVER HAD THIS TROUBLE BEFORE,BLOODY FOREIGN SOURCED CRAP!
i,ve enough trouble with my series and bloody britpart springs from bloody paddocks (see other threads)
 
the big buggers gone in.even with the seat box out we had the jemmy the side rails out to get the swine to fit its tight to say the least something aint right.
ANYBODY KNOW HOW MANY LITRES A STANDARD TANK IS SUPPOSED TO HOLD?

or beamends or craddocks or MM4x4 or my local landy specialist or fleabay
 
craddocks aint bad as if they give me **** i just take it back same as mm4x4 where i get most my crap from if they give me **** just take it back as i live smack bang in the middle of them 40 mile round trip to either of em.
p.s. they really love me at mm4x4........NOT!
the seem to duck or pretend to be busy when i show up, must be all the money i cost them when i claim compo for the crap they sell
 
forgot to mention get on well with john,dave and melvin at craddocks so they usually sort me out with decent second hand stuff which fits better and works betterthan the new cheap ****.
useless bit of trivia for ya:my kid sister used to walk John craddocks dogs for him when she was younger
told ya it was useless
