As title, how long does it take to swap the tbox from a 300 disco onto my 300 defender? It shat its self today and spewed its oil every where. I don't have much time and need it for work most days.

I think it'll be going up for sale afterwards as I don't have the time required to maintain it.

You should get it done in a day no problem.

I replaced mine last weekend, I had been running a 1.2 very happily for years behind my 300TDi but after I converted to auto last year I have finally realised that the 1.2 is just a tad high so have gone back to 1.4 (supplied by Ashcrofts).
Although I have an engine hoist I didn't want to take out the seat-box (I have a lot of wiring running through the battery-box and it is very time consuming to pull it apart) so apart from removing the tunnel it was all done from underneath. I made a simple wooden jig which sat on top of my trolly-jack to support the transfer-box and allow me to get it at the correct height to simply slide it off / on.

Single handed, no fuss, no bother and all done by teatime.

Ok thanks. I'm hoping I can do mine in an evening. Does the shifter linkage need setting up after? I remember thinking how much of a pain it was to disconnect it when I took it out of the disco
