how often do you need to top up water

4.0 and 4.6 v8s petrol or lpg , how often do you need to top up the water/antifreeze , how many miles between top up and how much

Twice the answers with 2 threads, eh? I'll try here then with my question. Do you know where the water is going or is just disappearing mysteriously? Because that matters.

A novel way of increasing your post count. Same as last time check water, oil and tyre pressures once a week. Then if one level or pressure starts to go down you know you have a problem. Top coolant up when engine is cold to mark on header tank that says "Cold Max" or "Cold Level". Oil level should be checked cold but after starting then stopping engine.

99 4.6 on petrol, it uses no coolant at all. It used to when the water pump was weeping.
