I am looking at re-spraying my RRC and was wondering if anybody had done it before? I will be taking the panels off to do this, stripping them back and priming them. I don't want to over order so any help or advice would be appreciated.
 
you probably need about 2.5 - 3 gallons to do a good job. how good are you at spraying? what equipment are you using? is it in a booth or outdoors? lots of factors to think of when doing this kind of job.
and make sure you have a good etch/filler primer and a good few coats with de-nibbing in between coats.

15ltrs of paint for one motor FFS I did the 90 with one ltr and a roller.
 
If 2k paint and you are doing base and clear 4 ltr base 3 ltr clear coat
2k solid 5 ltr
But does depend on colour to as coverage is different on different mixtures hope that help.
And use. 2k filler primer something cheap like MIPA will do u can get 5 ltr and harder for £40 that will give you plenty of primer then Mis coat and flat

and dont forget if he is new to this kind of thing, he may spray more off the panels rather than on them. i always like a few extra coats, helps remove orange peel effect.

Thanks for the tips.

I was going to use etching primer then Agricultural paint (Tractor paint) as that is gloss enamel and does not require clear over coating, its also tougher than standard paint car.

I have re-sprayed tractor bonnets and pannels but they are not very big and use very little paint.

I can get a 20ltr bucket of paint for £65 + p&p so sounds like this will be the best option.

Should look good in ford blue with a white roof.
 
Like the bloke who just moved into a new house and wanted to paper the front Room. He asked next door how much paper he got to do his with. "10 rolls", says he. A week later after doing the job he pulls bloke next door. "Hey i got 10 rolls of paper like you said and i've 3 leftover". "That's funny", says the bloke "So did I".

Which would help if you said how much paint you started with and then ended up with!! Don't think wall paper would last long on a Rangy :rolleyes:

How much paint, is like how long is a piece of string. How many coats are you going to apply. Are you using two pack. Are you using base coat and lacquer? You can put several coats of paint on a car the size of a Rangie with a couple of litres of colour. With base coat and lacquer you would need less colour but more lacquer depending on finish you're looking for. Alloy parts rubbed bare will need a etch primer applied within half an hour of being uncovered.
