How much Dynamat/Flashmat/Fatmat is needed?

Yep, I bet half of you are going to shout at me :behindsofa: BUT anyone know how much SqFt of the various dynamat/flashmat/fatmat material is needed for a Defender 90 CSW

I plan on doing the roof front to back, doors, rear arches, seatbox, some of the main bulkhead, pillars, sides. Basically everywhere except the tub floor and maybe the rear door.

Recon 50sqft would be enough? or more needed.

Anyone?

50 sqm should cover it.

20 sq ft FATMAT XTREME Sound Deadening - UK Seller! Dynamat Roller Available | eBay

It is double sided sticky rubber matting. I used it in my car doors to stop vibrations.

Thats wot i thought he might mean untill he said he was gunna cover the hole vehcle with it

good stuff for rattly doors and stuff, sticks like s**t to a blanket,usually one chance only to put it on
It can be a bit heavy as well

After this winter when I was essentially driving round in a fecking aquarium with all the water that came in I decided to completley rebuild the body work.

Im pretty certain that the drive train is solid, chassis and all that lot so don't have to worry much about that. The body however theres mud in places mud shouldnt get and its starting to look tatty. Mainly because the last guy installed half the parts really half assed.

So I thought once the body is in bits I may aswell make it as nice as possible! Replacing every rubber seal and all the window seals, fukc loads of sealant everywhere to keep rain out and a layer of Fatmat followed by a layer of closed cell foam to keep condesation at bay and to insulate it. Make it quiter and less rattely too.

Pretty much replacing the whole interior with either custom parts or new ones. Shockingly enough including some leather and wait for it. Carpet floor mats . They will be removable leaving an HD rubber floor for laning/offroad use.

The idea is to build a Defender that has a high quality plushy interior but keeps the ability to be an off road monster.

Basically all going to happen as soon as the garage is finished so ive got somewhere decent to work.
