Needing to check/ replace the ambient temp sensor behind the front bumper as Hevac display says its 14 degrees when it clearly isn't! (Roll on Summer). Had the grille off today but dont have 9 inch fingers to reach the thing. I take it it will be a loosen bumper and pull forward routine. Just started giving high readings a couple of days ago. Goes down to 6 degrees first thing in morning when it's icy so something's not right. It's not on Fahrenheit settihg.

Buy your replacement sensor first and that way you will see how the fitting works. Its a twist and clip type fitting.

You need to take the grill off but nothing more. As you know little space is available for hands and tools and they are a bugger to twist out. I couldnt twist mine out with mole grips so I snapped the sensor out. The sensor housing is quite robust so shouldnt break (!!!!) Then its just a simplle twist and clip the new one in place.

You need long handled mole grips/Pliers for the job.

Having said the above, my temp registered +44 degrees celcius then 0 degrees. Changing mine stopped the the +44 degrees but not 0 degrees. Your problem , in my view, is probably with the Hevac. They tempremental little devils. If your aircon is engaging then leave it alone and look at the internal temp sensor that I believe is located next to the 'o' rings
