Freelander 1 How many fans?

Hi … ive got myself an old 2004 freelander 1 petrol to tinker with, can anyone tell me how many cooling fans its supposed to have? It doesnt have aircon, and the 2 fan shroud fitted has only one fan installed and the other space is empty. Im not sure thats correct or adequate. Any help would be good.

Second fan space is used if you have air con.

Do the thermostat mod to put the stat in the hoses, reduces cold rush into the block when the stat opens. Details on this forum somewhere !!!

Cheers for the quick reply… it just looked odd and i thought it may have had a different shroud and a central fan fitted

When AC wasn't fitted, only one fan is needed. It didn't require a different shroud, as the 1.8 is overcooled as it is, as the radiator is well over sized for the heat the engine generates.
