how low can my tyres go?

I want to get my disco in the garage, but its too tall. It has big mud tyres on, so i was wondering what pressure i could safely drop them down to so i can get the landy in the garage?

There already on the floor how low do you want them :boink:

Does the pressure matter?

I'd just inch the vehicle up and air down just far enough to get through ...

No way to know what pressure you can go to without detailed knowledge of your tyres and rims. Some set-ups can run, albeit slowly, at 4 psi, some wouldn't be safe below 20 psi ...

D1 or D2?

It is possible to drop the rear suspension on a D2

As noted in my question, its the height of the landy i want to reduce, not the elevation of the tyres. But thanks for trying….

Thanks for the more useful reply! I thought there may be a typical safe limit, but i guess not :/ Even with the tyres down, i aint sure if it'll be low enough! The fail safe is to use my steading!

Its a D1 i'm afraid

All answers require data to be inputted in order to achieve an answer.

What tyres
what size rims.
what height is the disco
what height is the opening into the garage.
Do you have a roof rack fitted.
etc etc

Had to let my rears right down to get the defender in the garage, a real swine to steer whilst reversing with two flats....

get a set of 15" rims and run it in on them.

Get some fatties in the back

Best answer so far IMO

If you can't get it low enough by dropping the pressures try getting some spring compressors, these should drop it a few more inches.

dig two 6 inch channels in the garage floor

Just add a couple of courses of bricks on yer garage..

Go to a breaker and get 4 small(ish) wheels with rubbish tyres. If they still don't get you quite low enough, then drop the pressure. Even if they go flat, it wont do any harm then.

Think we used to drop our to 12psi for trials
