My SWB S3 petrol can 'cruise' nicely at 55MPH ... but at 60+ you feel the cogs are about to smash their way out of the gearbox.

If you can get a good overdrive unit you could 'cruise' at about 60-65MPH I guess

I got overtaken on the M6 a week ago by a modern Defender that looked totally standard.. I was in my other car doing about 80 ;) and he flew straight past me

will lift off the throttle then:D

I remember coming down the Autobahn in the late 70s in a, then, new 109 FFR (so heavy) at an indicated 130kph. That's about 80mph, judging by other traffic not far out. Kept it up for a couple of hours. When I slowed down the oil light came on at about 40!
All on Goodyear Extra Grips (so I was nearly death by then) but we won't think about that too much!

60? do that in 3rd mate dunno bout 4th never really nailed it apart from when i first got it an were flying up m6 bout 70
