i now have enough funds to do the dynachip and have spoken to Mike at D/Chip to book a date, i understand that next is a dcat, is it easy, any pics, and what should i be paying from where?

All help, as ever, much appreciated.

I would think its just a case of swapping the front pipe for an early td5 one as I think up to about 2001 they weren't fitted with cats!

Hi Matt you need to get out and get under, to check if your car actually has one as 2001 is the borderline year.

Assuming it has one, the replacement is straightforward, but I would advise you to buy a 10mm 6-sided socket specially for this job - you'll regret it if you don't !!!!

I found the easiest way of doing it was to remove BOTH crossmembers for really good access, then undo (from above) the three retaining nuts on the bottom of the turbo, unclip the rubber support and out she'll come.

Cheers

Ah ! i may have misunderstood then, mine is a 2001 so i will have to have a look, what am i looking for or not as the case may be, a silencer type box?, sorry to be so uneducated to the ways of spanners and sockets, im willing to have a go if its easy enough, so if i dont have one once i have been remapped is there nothing else i can do to improve performance, intercooler is big enough according to on here, do silicon hoses help, seem expensive £70 approx, is there another exhaust (straight through) that will help?

Cheers again, Matt
