Hi everyone, I'm thinking about fitting silicone intercooler hoses to my defender td5 and was just wondering how this would impact on my next insurance renewal quote? I know a lot of insurers just hear 'engine mod' and assume a boy racer supe up! Any help would be great :)

I'd be surprised if fitting silicone hoses could be called an engine mod

They call it non standard or MODIFIED

I once had a Metro turbo, sold the engine and put a standard 1300 motor in it, my insurance went through the roof, had to sell cause I couldn't afford the 'modified MG Metro Turbo' isurance

Actually on the subject of silicone hoses, all I can find are a awful blue colour for the coolant and stupid bright Fast and the Furious gay colour inter cooler hoses, does anybody just make black ones?

Try Derby Performance Hoses. They seem to offer a range of colours, including black

I mentioned silicone tape as a repair for the filter to turbo on me 110, just to wrap around as a seal but I see 1 metre lengths advertised at half the price of the replacement part NTC 2660 which is about £50. Blue ,black or red seem to be on offer all over fleabay, wonder if it is worth replacing or just wrapping in tape?
