low range. On a 1988 3.5efi auto. What gear setting should i be in, should i be stationary, what can i do to free it if it's siezed?

stop. put gear box into N should go.if its stiff wd40 or some sort of release agent might do it

cheers, i'm guessing you've gotta have the engine running and where should i put the wd? Is it usually just the linkage that siezes or do i need to go further.

You need to climb underneath. Spray WD all over the linkage, then at the lever, start tugging ,pushing and sweating until it frees off. I attacked mine with a mallet until it started to move.

I had this one ....
Don't force it, be patient, spray WD40 leave to soak in, try to move lever.
If it is still stuck do it all over again, you find it moves a little more each time, hust keep trying, but don't rush the job.
