I have got the mot and insurance renewed just need to tax it. have been advised to go to my post office with the v5 is this correct as my local post office love to disappoint me.

You can do it on-line on the D.V.L.A. website or take the V5,mot, insurance and payment to a Post Office. Not all Post Offices can issue a vehicle excise disc. You can also do it by phone. For more information go to www.direct.gov.uk/vehicle tax . To tax on-line go to www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc or phone 0300 123 4321.
Didn't think you could re-tax a SORN vehicle online unless they have sent you the reminder!

As far as I can remember you can tax a SORNED car online using the reference code off the log book.

Maybe don't know never done it. As far as i know you have to fill out a form declaring it has not been on the road and such. Have done that at post office but never tried it online. Only thing i have done online is the standard renewal off the reminder.

and you don't have to have your mot cert if you go to the post office as it shows up on their system if you've got one or not. probably easier if you do have it but I never kept mine.
