How do I drain my fuel?

I love the fact that there's an ad at the bottom of my page for "Fuel Transfer Pumps"!

But even the ad doesn't tell me how / where to access the fuel line.... anyone... ? :focus:

You can either use the supply line to the rail at back of engine and rig a connection from that, you would need to depressurise the system first though. Or access the fuel return line under the car and drain it from that no need to depressurise.

I've got a pit, so accessing it from under the car is probably going to be easier than taking half the engine out again to get to the fuel supply line.

Where does the fuel return enter the tank? And is that where I should access it from? Also, how do I tell the difference between the fuel supply and the fuel return?

Is there an anti siphon device?

Download RAVE and look all will be revealed.

I'm certain. Its running beautifully - until it overheats!

just add a bottle of holts wondarweld & it will go again for another 12 months even with liner problems for less than £20 ;)

Do you have a inspection hatch / hole / cover in the rear floor to get to the top of the tank / float / pump ?

Wammers .... is there a non - pit access panel for the fuel ?

No hatch if that's what you mean. Only as i described earlier remove return pipe and drain it that way. You don't need to be over a pit for that operation. Playing with petrol over a pit is not good practice. Have seen a few flame ups over the years.

Cheers. I've found it in RAVE. I'll have a play during my smoking break at the weekend! If you never hear from me again you'll know it didn't go well!

Seriously though, your cautions have been noted.

Remember if you have a smoke break, do it before getting fuel on your hands ...

There is no return line, its a 2000 car Thor V8. Yes the connector to the fuel rail can be used. Depressure first or the connector is normally difficult to disconnect. Many people destroy that connector by not removing it properly. This can render the fuel feed hose usless.

I've PM'd you with my number to see if you have any success in ringing me.....:(

He did say TOP Secret:D

He could keep it til 5th Nov next year, then light it. Petrol should keep it going for a while, with a big bang and fire ball as the gas tank goes up for a great finale. :D:D
