How defeated are we!! Bleeding air from Rad

Hi all.

Update on the situ. Found out it was the HG and the head bowed in the middle, got it skimmed for £20. Nev started stripping her on thursday night had the head at the machinist by friday afternoon and picked it back up AM saturday. winner

Got her all back together, fluids etc THEN!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG the front bolt that holds the rocker on had stripped the threads and came out! not good, went out and bought some metal putty and tried that, but DON'T it's crap and doesn't work as the bolt just came out during the test drive. Nightmare.

So nicely the guy who did the head, lent us a tap and we drilled out the putty and drilled more of the head out and tapped her. Crapped myself as didn't want to drill into any chambers. Inserted a collar and she is solid as a rock.

Just the horrible noise of the tensioner to fix now and that should be that.

Got to be honest and say it was easier to change the head gasket then changing my cam belt on my vectra..
In my head it just doesn't make sense, but when you get down to it.....piece of pi$$

And just waiting for something else to go wrong, so we can fix it.........come break dam you

Just one thing! Did your Machinist "Anneal test" the cylinder head before skimming it? If yes and the cylinder head was within spec, please disregard the following. Once an alloy cylinder head has been over heated and in your case warped, there is a very strong chance that the structure of the metal has changed (softened). A short term fix to get you back on the road by skimming only may work but then again it may not!!! The problem (blown head gasket) could raise its ugly head again in a very short time frame.

nuvva fing - as an aside - replace that plastic a brass plug for a couple of domestic radiator drain valves - £2 each and saves all that hassle.

good tip will have to get some for mine too.
