Think I need a snorkel ...

Driving through a Ford in Norfolk last year ... water just lapped over bonnet so I reckon this is as close as I should get without a snorkel .. ;)

Wading Disco

Was fun, thobut.

There's also a couple more vids of me wading on Youtube ... one deeper than this I think ... ;)

well...

i filled my engine with water in a puddle this deep.

new engine job, bent 2 con rods, 7 push rods.

one of the con rods was that bent the piston sat about 1cm lower than the rest, and the big end impacted with the bottom of the bore, taking a big chunk outta it. Big end was on the much of an angle it wouldn't fit up the bore.

That pic was taken at where the LR stopped, the deepest part of the puddle.

Oh, and i was in 2nd Low.

Jeez .. we get 'em that deep when it rains hard and the drains fill up round here ... we're on a flood plain ... ;)

I know. id been happily splashing about all day, done lanes like that countless times. That time, went through, bang stopped dead. out of gear, turn key, err...... lights dim...

Took glow plugs out, blasted water everywhere, Put them back in, started, ran on 3 cyilinder until the engine was properly up to temperature.

No-one can explain how i did it either, the air filter was all installed properly, the intake pointed to the back, etc etc.

Filter was well soggy an all.

well actually come to think of it you could do it slow and be fine so i think 2 much speed when you hit the water and it wen up and flushed the engine bay wiv water as you hit it

Been up to the bonnet at violets lane in me v8.It wasnt happy.Cut it out on me own in terling ford-ut that wasnt deep that was just too fast.Me 110 tdi blew the block apart when i had water over the bonnet-no snorkel.Opps!

that puddle he died has got a lot deeper than that recently. Have been in it when it has been right to the top of the bank. 2nd low seems fine through it. is what i usually go through it in

i got through a flooded road after a river burst it banks a few years ago in wingfield. i was dead happy as i drove out of it cos at the other side was a land rover 110 defender and a warrior with huge wheels on and they was all turning back ! the guys who house had flooded stood looking in disbelief as i sat grinning like a cheasure cat. the inside was about 7 inches deep in water and i had ta pop out the drain bungs in the floor to get it out.
i went in slow and got a nice smooth bow wave in front of me and just followed that through. mind you the three guys in the series land rover made a killing towing all the cars out that had tried to blast through it, one bloke tried in an 06 plate audi needless to say he payed the 20 quid the series guys were charging hahahahahha
