Hey Up Everyone,
After debating what to do with the P38 whether to scrap it and give it up as a bad job or to fix it and hope and pray it wont be too bad.
Me and the Mrs have decided to fix it and get it running but to give you an idea of issues etc tell me if im wrong or ive missed something -

98 'S' P38 2.5 DSE Auto

Lowdown on the RR

Gearbox issue and the court case against who we bought it off etc means its been stood for about a year. It keeps getting a flat battery and we have started it an run it a few times but not done it since xmas.

I have worked out if i spend all going well about £2500 I can get the RR up and running properly. Here is how ive worked it out -

£1500 Getting the RR down to Luton from Sheffield and get a new Gearbox Fitted by Ashcroft Transmissions
£60 Diesel to drive the RR back to the MOT garage in Sheffield (Has No Tax or MOT but I will have it booked in for the same day at the MOT test centre)
£150 Service for all the oil and filters, diff oil etc
£200 MOT for any issues it finds which could be bushes etc
£125 Tax for 6 Months
£200 Upgraded RF reciever as I think this is whats causing the Flat Battery
£150 New Key

Is this a good idea or is there anything else i should get while im at it?
I will eventually get a new set of Tyres all round which will probably come to £500~ but i need it up and running *cough* Reliably *cough* lol
Engine sounds and runs quite sweet so this shouldnt be an issue but over to you guys Is there anything else that could do with replacing due to it not being driven in over a year?

Cheerz in Advance,

I have thought about that but my view is i would rather get it done all at the same place then there is no blame and also Ashcroft have a great reputation regarding RR Gearboxes i feel confident enough to get it through them even if they are further away and also cost a bit more.

Ok fair enough but the fitting any
Reputable garage can do the only thing that can get damage from it is the pump from not fitting torq converter in properly saves money that's unless you have one your case and its all being paid for.

Check the condition of your Suspension Air Bags...if they are original, they'll be well worn by now - service life is around 7/8 years....

A drain of the EAS Tank to expell any moisture may be beneficial too.

I shouldve said its had i think 2 new height sensors and 1 new air bag but i am planning on buying a set of Arnotts G2 is it and following the guide and replacing them.

Cheers for the info and also is there a How To regarding draining the EAS tank?

No Money is all out of my pocket but like i said its making sure theres no blame etc lol

If you are going to Ashcroft's for your box, think about at least the stage 1 upgrade to make the box stronger for the diesel torque:)

Comes up on Google as Ditchling Common, even closer to where I'll be staying:D Looks an impressive place:D:D

I've know this company for years very good even have a big yard in plumpton full of spares , mainly petrol tho , he had a farm sale years ago for Landrover stuff it was awsome . My it's a small world :)
