Holding Rev's & hesitation problem

Hi, I'm new to this site, but have heard good things about it. I have Disco 2004, 2.5. At stand still, I'm unable to hold rev's on 1.5, it will either go above or below this. I hear this is normal, anyone know if this is ok? Also when running at 50mph the engine is hesitating and jumping. Can anyone help please?

I should have mentioned that my disco is diesel and automatic. I have also found that there is a problem with the rev's between 1.5 to 2 at any speed Does anyone know if the accelerator cable is just a cable or is there some electronic device on it?

Hi

I would be worth checking if you have oil at the red plug of your ECU. If so, clean out with brake cleaner. You will need to put a new injector harness in then and continue to clean the red plug for a time to get rid of the legacy oil. Do a search on this. It is the most common TD5 issue and a good starting point.

Could also be the throttle potentiometer.

Yes it could be that too. If you get it checked on diagnostics, throttle issues can show up as 'Driver Demand' faults.
