Hello,
I'm very new to this site so I'll apologise in advance as I imagine this has been asked previously. I have recently bought a 2000 TD5 ES with the Harmon Kardon speaker & amp etc.. The previous owner has replaced the standard Alpine head unit with a Wharfdale Bluetooth thingy, which is very nice but causes several problems
1. Satellite speakers are obviously not wired and sit there hissing
2. Volume is a little binary - 0ff or 1:loud (output is amplified twice head+amp - right!?)
3. Steering controls and rear seat controls do not work (no big deal)
Now I dont mind too much about the remote controls, but what I would like is for all the speaker to work and ideally at a more reasonable volume One option is to try and find a new LR Apline head unit, but these are like Unicorn fur even on eBay!, but if anybody knows where I can get one I'd appreciate it.
Second option is to get a head unit that will work with the speakers/amp/sub, question is what do I need to get this working? Is it simply a case of getting the right wiring harness/adapter?, is there a specific third-party head unit which will work?, or do I need to enlist the help of a professional? Any help appreciated - ta!
