Hi there, I've come to my senses and decided to get back in to the landy scene. I've owned a few in the past - S111 safari nicknamed Exon valdes because it leaked so much - 110 ex mod I loved this bus and a '98 ex BT special vehicles 110 300tdi that I should have never got rid of.
I'm looking for a bus mostly to pull my autograss trailer and to have some off road fun in but I don't know what to go for. I love the defenders but do I want a 90 or 110, Do I go for a disco for the comfort/people carrying option (not too fussed about this to be honest) and what engine would be the best option for the bus I decide to buy £2000 - £3000 I've got to spend?

As I'm sure you're all top people on here being landy fans I'm sure there will be loads of replies to my questions and for that - Thanks.

Mike

I've found one, it's a 90 200tdi van 1/11/1993 L reg 120000 miles with 2 owners for £2700. It the body looks in good order apart from a few bits on the doors but I've not driven it yet (i'll drive it and give it a good looking at this weekend). It's t&t untill Feb 2009.

Your thoughts please

Mike

Sound quite reasonable Mike, just remember to check and doublecheck the chassis, also bein L reg it will probably have the R380 gearbox (reverse towards you and back) listen for any whining or notchy gear changes through all the gears and check all the UJ's while yer under it

Thanks for that, I've got my 10 zillion candle power torch on charge, swan neck inpection mirrors, overalls and foam lying down mat ready, you mention the R380 box - I memory serves, I had that in my '98 110 and the other type? (away and forwards) in my 86 ex mod 110, is there much difference?
If you don't mind, what other things should I look for even if they sound obvious because I've not had a landy for years.

Many thanks

Mike

My old mum said if I sit on a cold floor I'll get piles lol

Mike

Ahh... well if your mum said so then that's OK ;)

Overheard at the tram stop:
Pierre - "I wish I'd listened to my mum all those years ago."
Jean-Luc - "Why - what did she say?"
Pierre - "I don't know: I didn't listen."
