Hi peeps:)

I have a very very noist front wheel bearing on the passenger side:mad:
Going to try and tighten the fecker t'day but in all honesty I think its shot:(
Have to get it sorted this weekend as I'm off to London Thursday and there a days orft rodeoin at Bognor next weekend I dont want ta miss:D
LR wanted 40 quid for the bearing:eek:
I have a source that can get me the "genuine part" kit for a shade over 20:) :) :) :)
How easy is it ta change?
I'm thinkin Grinder, Cold Chisel, Swear Box (likely to increase the costs substantially), Cuts, Bruises & Hopefully no broken bones:D :D

OK PJ - point taked - just no point in re-inventing the wheel (bearing);)

maybe thats coz yu cant spell front? - hee hee

dunno if this helps -(know its not WB) - http://www.myfreelander.com/mainprobs3.htm

Thanks for that MHM:)
Dont think its that as when I did the lfit kit with me mate, he strippped this side dowm too far. Popped the drive shaft outta the gearbox. Had to strip that down and refit one of the doughnut bearings as it had come off when he tried ramming the shaft back in. The other thing we did when fitting the bits back together.........I assumed he had retightened the stake nut and visa versa. Consequently I drove quart of mile home with loose nut (singular);) Tightened it when I got home but it has started humming again.
Maybe Mondo (reputed to hum) hiding in there somehwere?.(sure it was mondo:p )
Anyway self inflicted and just want to know if it needs mechanic of the proffesional pursuasion to do?

normally what sounds like a n/s/f wheel bearing is the prop brearings, the way the noise transmits through the car makes it sound like a wheel bearing, get it up in the air and get someone to drive it while you listen (do it on a proper ramp, not a jack!!!!!)

Would have to all wheel orf the dirt as its permanent 4WD;) only person I know that can facilitate that is me mechanic, hes not working this weekend and he'll charge;) Need to get it sorted as I can't take a day out of work. Too much important stuff occuring this week, and no-one else can take care of it:( that I trust to do it right anyhow:rolleyes:

yeah, all the wheels must be off the ground, you need a 2 post lift to do it properly, then put a long screwdriver on the prop bearings and stick your ear to the screwdriver.

chances are, if you just put a wheel bearing in it, the noise will still be there, best to check first or you'll be chucking money away on parts you dont need, plus you'll need a press to fit wheel bearings

Don't know about the screwdriver bit. Tried that to find a leaking water main once:rolleyes: Trouble is my hearing ain't what it used to be:eek: too much messing about with power tools and no ear defenders;)
Will try tightening first and at a shade over 20 quid its not much to shell out. If I dont use it I'll have it as a spare for future use:D
You know..............just in case;)
