i have agreed to buy a Landy series 3 1982 SWB.

The mechanic said she is middle of the road, the engine is a good one and chassis and bulk head both ok. He is going to weld a plate in the footwell and put new door tops and get it through an MOT.

We have agreed that if I like it after the test drive then we will take it.............sooooooooooo what do I need to look for...I mean I know it will be slow its a 2/14 derv and I imagine it will weave all over the place but is ther anything specific to look out for?????

The mechanic is a landy lover and has a garage landy specific he is making a few other alterations as well to the body work changing it into a pick up.

thanks in advance

Just the basic stuff really...don't assume that jsut because it can get through an MOT that work has been done to a good standard....give the chassis a good poke over. On the test drive...they don't actually weave all over the road if they are setup rigght...but they do feel that way if you are used to normal cars. Make sure hi/low box and 4wd works...you shouldn't have too much play in the steering...but that is not usually difficult to cure...listen out for more than unusual noises (not that you will hear them over the 2.25 diesel hehe)
