Good evening / morning everbody.
Some techinical advice needed Re: High performance Diesel engine oil for a 1998 P38, 2.5 BMW engine Range Rover.

Does any body know if I can use Total Rubia TIR 8600 10W40 synthetic oil?
I have the following spec, API CJ-4/CI-4+/SM SL.

This is an extreme hight performance oil used in trucks & buses.
I have looked this up on the net on the Total oil site and have posted the link here. http://www.totaloilsolutions.co.nz/products/pdf/product/RUBIA TIR 8600 Cl 10W40.pdf

I have attached a downloaded document from Total oil on this product

Does anybody know if this is safe to use or should I continue to use Shell Rimula super 15W40.
I'm confused and don't want to mess my engine up.
Thank you all for your kind assistance.

Can't see why not, I have semi-synthetic 10W40 as recommended by unipart, and years ago when I had an Omega the handbook recommended fully synthetic 5W30, would have thought that 15W40 would have been a bit heavy for the hydraulic tappets. Would run an engine flush first. Last time I used Shell Rimula was in a Cat 3508.
Cheers
Davie
